Shopping Cart Software
Monday, November 9th, 2009
If you need to build an ecommerce site for a client on a limited budget, then a shopping cart solution is a must. Sitepoint has a nice list of 18 shopping cart solutions.
Personally, I’d highly recommend checking out Magento on that list. I would also add 2 more, the hosted solution Shopify, and the PHP/MySQL solution CS-Cart. We used CS-Cart on an internal company project a few years ago and it worked quite well. As always, try out a solution before deciding which to use.

So, we all know that IE6 is horrible. The problem comes when trying to convince your clients they need to upgrade from something they’ve been using for quite some time. Well, now Microsoft is giving people a reason to upgrade. Their Browser for the Better campaign will donate food when people upgrade to IE8. It just might be enough to convince those stubborn clients that an upgrade is in order!

A shelf for your iMac
Thursday, August 20th, 2009
Ok, so normally I try to keep posts on-topic around here, but I couldn’t resist posting this. It’s a cool little metal shelf for an iMac or Apple Cinema Display called “BackPack.” It lets you store a hard drive or other accessory behind your computer and out of sight. How cool!
Alright, back to regularly scheduled posting.

Here’s an interesting tip on working remotely. Most web companies are used to this sort of thing, but it could work great for remote employees or working with clients as well:
Very interesting color picker app
Tuesday, June 30th, 2009
There’s a new app called Pictaculous that analyzes a photo and spits out a color palette. Looks like it could provide a great source of design inspiration for web layouts.
Here’s a palette I created in just a few seconds:

You can check it out here. You can even email pictures to the app, directly from your iPhone!
